Description

Altrad Belle BHB Hydraulic Road Breaker

The BHB range is Belle’s family of hand-held hydraulic breakers, designed to work with Belle’s own hydraulic power packs and other packs of matching flow. Four models are available, from a light demolition pick through to heavyweight road breakers for reinforced concrete. Pick the size that suits the material and how long your operators will be on the tool.

Hydraulic Breaking Without a Compressor Every BHB breaker runs on a 20 l/min hydraulic supply at up to 160 bar maximum pressure, so a compact power pack such as the Belle Bulldog 20-140 is all that’s needed. The BHB27X can also run from a 30 l/min pack such as the Belle Major 30-140, using the return restrictor supplied with it.

Choosing a Model The BHB12 is a 14kg breaker and demolition pick. It runs at 2,400 blows per minute with 25 joules of breaking force on a 22 x 82mm steel, suiting lighter breaking and demolition work. The BHB25 is a 25kg general-purpose road breaker giving 85 joules at 1,300 blows per minute on 32 x 160mm steels, for patching, reinstatements and heavier breaking. The BHB27 is a 27kg heavyweight breaker for demanding breaking work. The BHB27X weighs 30kg, delivers 85 joules on 32 x 160mm steels and has the range’s lowest stated vibration level at 8.2 m/s².

Vibration and Operator Time Hand-arm vibration figures vary across the range, from 14.13 m/s² on the BHB12 to 11.1 m/s² on the BHB25 and 8.2 m/s² on the BHB27X. A lower figure allows longer trigger time within daily exposure limits, so it is worth checking against your HAV assessments when choosing a model.

Breaker Steels Steels are sold separately. The BHB12 takes 22mm-shank steels, while the larger breakers take 32 x 160mm steels. Moil points, chisels, broad chisels, asphalt and tarmac cutters, digging spades, clay spades and rammer pads are available.

  • Concrete: breaking out slabs, bases and reinforced sections
  • Asphalt and tarmac: cutting and breaking out for patch repairs and reinstatements
  • Brickwork and masonry: demolition and opening up
  • Ground: digging in hard or compacted ground with spade and clay spade steels
