Description

Altrad Belle PCEL 400E Electric Plate Compactor

The PCEL 400E is a mains-powered forward plate compactor for jobs where a petrol engine is not an option. With no exhaust fumes and no fuel to store, it suits work inside buildings, in basements and courtyards, and on sites with strict emission or noise rules.

Electric Drive An electric motor drives a 10.5kN vibration unit through a 380mm x 364mm plate, giving a travel speed of up to 18 metres per minute. The machine is a Class 1 earthed appliance and can be run on compatible extension leads of up to 25m, so it can reach well into a building from the supply point.

Voltage Options Two versions are available. The 110v model (0.8Hp/0.6kW motor) is the standard choice for UK construction sites and needs a transformer of at least 3.3kVA. The 230v model (0.75Hp/0.55kW motor) runs from a standard mains supply, which suits landscapers, facilities teams and work on domestic premises. Both share the same plate, vibration unit and 48.5kg weight.

Light and Manageable At 48.5kg without a paving pad, the PCEL 400E is easy to lift into a van and move between work areas. Static pressure is 376kg/m² on the 110v model and 354kg/m² on the 230v model. The lower static pressure compared with heavier petrol plates makes it well suited to bedding layers and block paving, where an over-aggressive plate can damage the surface or shift the blocks.

Typical Applications The PCEL 400E is well matched to:

  • Indoor work: compacting sub-base and bedding inside buildings, warehouses and extensions
  • Block paving: bedding blocks with the optional Belle paving pad fitted
  • Enclosed areas: courtyards, basements and atriums where exhaust fumes would build up
  • Emission-sensitive sites: hospitals, schools and city centre schemes with low-emission requirements

Vibration Level The published hand-arm vibration figure is 4.43m/s², tested to BS5349 using EN500-4. Optional extras include a Belle paving pad.
