Description

Altrad Belle PCLX 12/40E Electric Plate Compactor

The PCLX 12/40E brings the low-vibration PCLX design to an electric plate compactor. It gives more compaction force and a faster travel speed than Belle’s entry-level electric plate, while keeping the benefits of mains power: no exhaust, no fuel and less noise.

Electric Performance A 2.0Hp/1.5kW motor drives a 12kN vibration unit through a 380mm x 364mm plate. That produces a static pressure of 388kg/m² and a travel speed of up to 24 metres per minute, so it moves through bedding and sub-base layers at a good rate for a machine of 50kg. That is noticeably more force and speed than the entry-level PCEL 400E, from a machine that is only 1.5kg heavier.

Voltage Options The PCLX 12/40E is available in two versions with identical performance. The 110v model is the standard site-safe choice and needs a transformer rated at 3.3kVA or more. The 230v model runs straight from a standard mains socket, which suits landscapers and work in occupied or domestic premises. It is a Class 1 earthed appliance and can be used with compatible extension leads up to 25m long.

Low Hand-Arm Vibration The published hand-arm vibration figure is 3.97m/s², independently tested by OPERC to BS5349 using EN500-4. Lower vibration means operators can work for longer before reaching daily exposure limits.

Applications The PCLX 12/40E is a good fit for:

  • Indoor groundwork: compacting sub-base and bedding inside buildings and extensions
  • Block paving: laying and bedding blocks with the optional paving pad
  • Enclosed spaces: basements, courtyards and covered areas where fumes are a problem
  • Low-emission sites: city centre, healthcare and education projects

Accessories A Belle paving pad and a Belle PAT testing rig are available as optional extras. Both voltage versions use the same plate, so a single paving pad fits either model, and the 50kg weight means one or two operators can lift the machine into a van using sensible handling practice.
