Description

Altrad Belle PCLX 40 Plate Compactor

The PCLX 40 takes the low-vibration PCLX design to a wider 400mm plate, covering more ground per pass on paths, driveways and sub-base work. It keeps a manageable working weight, so it is still easy to load and move around site.

Wider Plate, Faster Coverage A 400mm plate driven by a 13kN vibration unit gives a static pressure of 350kg/m² and a travel speed of up to 20 metres per minute. The wider footprint makes it well suited to driveways, car park bays and larger patios where a 13-inch plate would need more passes. It has the same 13kN rating and the same operating length and height as the PCLX 32, so crews familiar with the smaller machine will find it easy to pick up.

Low Hand-Arm Vibration The Honda-powered machine has a published hand-arm vibration figure of 2.50m/s². That lets operators work for longer within daily exposure limits, which is useful on large paving and surfacing jobs.

Options Available Two versions are offered. The Loncin model is a cost-effective petrol machine for general compaction work. The Honda model has a GX120 petrol engine (3.2Hp/2.4kW) and comes complete with a quick-release 12 litre water tank, which stops asphalt sticking to the plate and suits surfacing contractors. The Loncin model suits groundwork and paving crews who do not need water for asphalt and would rather keep the purchase cost down.

Applications The PCLX 40 handles:

  • Driveways and car parks: compacting sub-base over larger areas
  • Block paving: bedding blocks with the optional Belle paving pad
  • Asphalt: finishing tarmac and bituminous surfacing using the water tank
  • General groundwork: granular fill around buildings, kerbs and drainage runs

Practical Design The machine weighs 68.5kg (Honda, without water kit) and folds down to 790mm long and 620mm high for transport. Manual handling points help with safe lifting, and a paving pad and detachable wheel kit are available as extras.
