Altrad Belle PCX 20/45 Diesel Plate Compactor
The PCX 20/45 Diesel is the heaviest-hitting 18-inch forward plate in the Belle PCX range, fitted with a Hatz 1B20 diesel engine. It suits contractors and hire fleets that prefer diesel for fuel commonality, durability and safer fuel storage on site.
Hatz 1B20 Diesel Engine The Hatz 1B20 diesel engine produces 4.6hp/3.5kW. Running the plate on diesel means it can share fuel with excavators, dumpers and other site plant, removing the need to keep separate petrol on site.
20kN Compaction Force A 20kN vibration unit drives a 450mm wide plate, giving a static pressure of 585kg/m² and a travel speed of up to 25 metres per minute. That combination of force and speed makes it a productive machine for larger areas of granular sub-base and deeper fill layers. It has the same 450mm plate width and 20kN rating as the Honda-powered PCX 20/45, with the diesel engine giving a higher static pressure of 585kg/m².
Low Hand-Arm Vibration The diesel version has a published hand-arm vibration figure of 2.64m/s², which is low for a heavyweight plate. Operators can work for longer within daily exposure limits, which helps on large compaction jobs.
Applications The PCX 20/45 Diesel is built for:
- Sub-base: compacting deeper Type 1 and granular layers for roads, car parks and slabs
- Trench backfill: consolidating fill in drainage and utility trenches
- Asphalt: surfacing work with the optional water kit
- Block paving: large paved areas with the optional Belle paving pad
Optional Extras The PCX 20/45 can be fitted with a Belle paving pad, a fixed or detachable wheel kit and a water kit, so one machine can be set up for groundwork, paving or surfacing. Fitting a wheel kit makes the machine much easier to move around site and load at the end of the day.
