Description
Altrad Belle RPC 60/80 Diesel Reversible Plate Compactor
The Altrad Belle RPC 60/80 heads Belle’s heavy-duty RPC range, putting 60kN of centrifugal force through a long 945mm base plate. It is diesel-only, powered by a Hatz engine, and is offered with recoil start or electric start. For bulk compaction of stone and soil it is a serious alternative to bringing a roller onto site.
Large-Area Compaction The combination of 60kN and a 70Hz vibrator is aimed at fast compaction of stone and soil across larger areas. The long base plate gives a generous footprint, so each pass consolidates a wide strip of material.
Reversible and Controllable Like the rest of the RPC range, the RPC 60/80 travels forwards and backwards and can compact on the spot, letting the operator work methodically up to walls, footings and the edges of excavations without turning a heavy machine.
Typical Uses Belle positions the RPC 60/80 for foundation work and backfill against supporting walls, where a ride-on roller would be awkward or impossible to use. Typical applications include:
- Building foundations: consolidating formations ahead of concrete
- Wall backfill: compacting fill behind retaining and basement walls
- Bulk stone: thick layers of granular fill across open areas
- Soil: heavier soils on new formations and platforms
Start Options Both versions use the same Hatz diesel engine, vibrator and base plate. The standard model uses recoil start; the DE model adds electric start for quicker, easier starting, which is useful on a machine that is often stopped and restarted as the job moves around site.
Planning Transport With an operating weight of 475kg for the recoil-start diesel, the RPC 60/80 needs a plant trailer and suitable loading arrangements. Its weight is also what gives it the depth of compaction that lighter plates cannot reach, which is why it is chosen for structural fill and foundation work.
