Description
Altrad Belle RPX 35/40 Reversible Plate Compactor
The Altrad Belle RPX 35/40 is a 16″ (400mm) reversible plate built around a 35kN vibrator, giving contractors a mid-weight machine that works forwards, backwards or on the spot. Its 16-inch plate is narrow enough for trench work and paths while still carrying the punch of a 35kN machine. It is offered with a Honda petrol engine or a Hatz diesel, with or without electric start.
Compaction Performance A centrifugal force of 35kN at 81Hz drives a 400 x 700mm base plate, putting real energy into granular sub-bases, mixed fill and trench backfill. Travel speed is rated at 27m/min and the plate is rated for gradients of up to 20°, so it keeps working on ramps and sloping formations.
Forward, Reverse and Hold Because the plate reverses, the operator can work into corners, back out of trenches and compact in confined areas without turning the machine round. Holding the plate on the spot lets you concentrate effort on soft patches or around ironwork before moving on.
Engine Options Three versions are available. The petrol model uses a Honda GX200 rated at 5.5hp (4.0kW). The diesel models use the Hatz 1B20 (4.2hp / 3.1kW), either with standard recoil start or with electric start. The diesel versions also record a lower hand-arm vibration figure of 2.4m/s², against 3.1m/s² for the petrol. Weight is 176kg (petrol), 187kg (diesel) and 189kg (diesel electric start).
Typical Applications The RPX 35/40 suits groundworkers, utility contractors and plant hire fleets handling:
- Sub-base: Type 1 and similar granular layers under paving, slabs and drives
- Trench backfill: reinstatement of service and drainage trenches
- Foundations: preparing formations ahead of concrete bases and footings
- Hardstanding: footpaths, patios and narrow access routes
Transport and Storage The machine stores at 400 x 1264 x 809mm (W x H x L), compact enough for a standard plant trailer, and the diesel options give you the choice of a single fuel across a diesel-powered fleet.
