Altrad Belle RPX 59/65 Heavy Reversible Plate Compactor
The Altrad Belle RPX 59/65 is the heavyweight of the RPX family, pairing a 59kN vibrator with a 26″ (650mm) base plate. It is aimed at contractors who need roller-style results in places a ride-on roller cannot easily reach. Two versions are offered: Honda petrol with recoil start, or diesel with electric start.
Heavy-Duty Compaction At 59kN and 70Hz, the RPX 59/65 is built for deeper lifts of granular fill and sub-base than a mid-weight plate can manage in one pass. The 650 x 945mm plate spreads that force over a large footprint, and the machine is rated to travel at 28m/min and climb gradients up to 20°.
Reversible Control Forward and reverse travel, plus the ability to hold position, mean the operator can work up to walls and kerbs, back out of excavations and spend extra time on areas that need it, all without manhandling a machine of this weight.
Petrol or Diesel The petrol version uses a Honda GX390 producing 9.4hp (7.0kW) and weighs 360kg. The diesel electric start version uses a Hatz 1B50 rated at 10.7hp (7.9kW) and weighs 442kg. The diesel also has the lower hand-arm vibration figure, at 2.4m/s² against 3.1m/s² for the petrol, which helps when planning longer working periods.
Where It Earns Its Keep The RPX 59/65 is suited to:
- Bulk fill: granular material laid in deeper layers ahead of slabs and roads
- Sub-base: Type 1 and similar materials across roads, yards and car parks
- Foundations: consolidating formations ahead of concrete
- Backfill: wide trenches and areas alongside retaining structures
Extension Plates Optional bolt-on extension plates are listed for the RPX 59 range in 75mm and 125mm sizes, letting the same machine cover a wider strip when the job allows.
Transport and Storage For storage the machine measures 650 x 1287 x 1088mm (W x H x L). Given its weight, plan on a plant trailer with a suitable ramp or lifting equipment, and check that the trailer and towing vehicle are rated for the load.
