Description

Altrad Belle RTX50 Trench Rammer

The Altrad Belle RTX50 is the lightest machine in the RTX trench rammer range, built around a Honda GX100 4-stroke petrol engine and supplied with a 230mm foot. At 57.7kg it is easy for one operator to manoeuvre and load, while still delivering 12.5kN of impact force.

Built for Trenches Rammers excel where plate compactors struggle: narrow trenches, cohesive soils and confined spaces. The RTX50 runs at 450 to 660 blows per minute with a 52mm stroke, driving the 230 x 335mm foot into backfill layer by layer.

4-Stroke Honda Power The Honda GX100 runs on unleaded petrol, so there is no oil mixing as with a 2-stroke rammer. A carburettor primer bulb helps with starting, and starting is by recoil.

Designed for Low Maintenance Belle fits a triple-filtration air cleaner and a dual-filtration fuel system to protect the engine in dusty conditions. The leg is designed for low maintenance and has an oil level sight glass, so daily checks are quick.

Applications The RTX50 suits utility contractors, landscapers, groundworkers and hire fleets working on:

  • Trench backfill: service, drainage and duct trenches
  • Cohesive soils: clay and mixed fill where plates struggle
  • Confined areas: around manholes, posts and foundations
  • Reinstatement: small excavations in footways and verges

Handling and Transport A lower grab handle and front roller make loading and moving the machine easier, and both are replaceable. Belle also lists a wheel kit for the RTX range for moving around site.

Choosing the RTX50 Compared with the 60kg, 13.6kN RTX60, the RTX50 trades a little impact force for a lighter, shorter machine (670mm long against 705mm). That makes it a good fit for lighter backfill, landscaping and reinstatement work where ease of handling matters more than outright force. Fuel tank capacity is 2.5 litres and the published noise level is 108 dB(A).
