Description
Altrad Belle RTX68R Trench Rammer
The Altrad Belle RTX68R is a 70kg petrol trench rammer powered by a Honda GXR120 4-stroke engine and fitted with a 280mm foot. With 16kN of impact force it gives more compaction per blow than the lighter RTX models, while staying manageable for a single operator.
More Impact Force At 16kN, the RTX68R is a step up from the 13.6kN RTX60. It runs at 450 to 660 blows per minute with a 52mm amplitude, which helps on heavier cohesive soils, deeper lifts in trenches and work on gradients.
Honda GXR120 Engine The Honda GXR120 is a single-cylinder, air-cooled 4-stroke petrol engine rated at 3.0hp (2.3kW), with a diaphragm carburettor. Running on unleaded petrol avoids the mixing needed with 2-stroke rammers.
280mm Foot The 280 x 335mm foot covers a good width per blow for general trench backfill and reinstatement. Narrower plastic feet and micro-trenching extension feet are listed for the RTX range if a job calls for a different size.
Applications The RTX68R is suited to groundworkers and utility teams handling:
- Trench backfill: service, drainage and duct trenches
- Cohesive soils: clay and mixed fill where plates struggle
- Confined areas: around manholes, posts and foundations
- Reinstatement: small excavations in footways and verges
Practical on Site Swing-out engine protection gives access for servicing, and the RTX range uses a triple-filtration air cleaner and dual-filtration fuel system to protect the engine. A lower grab handle and front roller help with loading, and a transport wheel kit is available.
Choosing the RTX68R Pick the RTX68R over the RTX60 when the work involves heavier clays, deeper trenches or regular use on slopes, where the extra 2.4kN of impact force reduces the number of passes. The machine measures 345 x 1040 x 705mm (W x H x L), so it remains narrow enough for standard service trenches.
